Reba McLennan began as the cheer coach in April of 2018. She has guided the Cheer & STUNT program at George Fox from an extra-curricular group through its transition from an extra-curricular club to competing nationally, and now the transition is complete as the team comes online as a sanctioned competitive program in 2022-23. During her first competitive season (2021-2022) McLennan led the Bruins to a Top 5 finish at USA Nationals.
With her previous experience as a Division I competitive cheerleader, McLennan brings a highly competitive mindset to George Fox. While cheering competitively for four years at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) she was a part of the nationally ranked program in the All-Girl DIA and All-Girl Game Day divisions.
As a competitor from 2011-15, McLennan became a three-time All-American and helped her team notch three Top 5 national finishes. She also brings a national perspective to the program, as she has been a staff member of the National Cheerleaders Association from 2013 to the present day.
“I feel so incredibly honored to have the opportunity to coach these young women," said coach McLennan. We have worked so hard to get to where we are, and I am so excited to see where we can take GFU Cheer & STUNT. With the program going under the umbrella of athletics, it gives us resources to expand the team and truly reach our goals!”
In addition to recruiting and coordinating a 20-member team, McLennan works to establish relationships with university board members & employees to successfully plan events for her squad, organize training and fitness programs for team members, and originate new routines and material for performances.
Prior to coaching at George Fox, McLennan was an assistant coach at Pacific University as well as head coaching stints at Southridge High School & Jesuit High School in Beaverton, Ore.
